Mohini Associates was founded in Bhilwara in 2023 by Tanay Kacholiya. We are a small studio working on a handful of carefully chosen projects each year, anywhere in India.

We chose to base ourselves in Bhilwara — a small town in southern Rajasthan with a long textile and stone-working tradition — because we believe a building belongs to its place. The masons, carpenters and metal workers we depend on are all within a short drive. We can stop by their workshops on the way home.
We work on residences, restaurants, retail and small hospitality projects. We do not have a house style. We have a method: walk the site, listen carefully, draw slowly, build well.

Tanay trained at Poornima University, Jaipur, and began his practice as an interior designer with Vikram Sharma Associates before founding Mohini Associates in Bhilwara in 2023. His work is concerned with regional craft, lime-based materials, and the quieter end of contemporary Indian architecture.
He is on site more often than in the studio.

Tanay joins Vikram Sharma Associates as an interior designer.

First independently delivered residence in the Mewar region.
